At Group Legal, we have two sets of clients: SThree’s companies and employees and the Group’s external clients and candidates. We serve both with the same commitment and high standards.

We are your legal partners, experts in our field with strong commercial acumen, able to offer innovative, pragmatic solutions tailored to Group strategy.

We recently completed a team reorganisation which makes us better equipped to deal with a globalising business. There are now three regional teams: UK/Americas, Benelux/France and Germany/Asia Pac. They each cover our core practice areas of contract review, litigation and compliance work.

Contract Review

We review client and supplier terms. We also deal with amendments to SThree’s standard terms when requested by clients and contractors.

Compliance & Licences

We research the regulatory regimes in new territories to ensure SThree is compliant with local law. This makes us a strategic partner in any new business roll-out.

If a country requires an employment agency licence, we’ll make the necessary arrangements.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation

We handle any disputes that arise across the Group’s global operations, including:

• recovering outstanding trade debt (unpaid contract and permanent invoices)
• supporting the Business Protection Unit by collecting fees from clients who have engaged candidates other than through us
• resolving any contractor claims relating to either unpaid fees or disputed terminations
• enforcing brand intellectual property rights

Property

We’re responsible for all legal-related Group Property matters. These include: lease negotiations, notices, approvals, licences, break clauses, rent rate reviews and property related insurance matters.

Employment

We advise upon and handle all UK employment issues such as breach of confidentiality claims, dismissal claims and updating UK employment contracts.

Data Protection

Group Legal handle all global data protection issues. This includes registering our businesses with data protection authorities and preparing privacy policies in line with local legislation, data protection complaints from individuals and data protection authorities.

Regional Intelligence

Our regional intelligence helps SThree keep track of relevant legal developments and trends. We communicate with the business in a number of ways: intranet, blog, e-newsletters, Intelligence Watch and training. The introduction of the UK Agency Workers’ Regulations in October 2011 is an excellent example of Group Legal’s strategic involvement.

Saskia Doerr - Team Leader for Germany and Asia Pac

I’m a Senior Legal Advisor for Germany and APAC based in our Frankfurt Offices. I work closely with our Data Protection Officer to ensure our compliance with the German Data Protection Laws.

Saskia joined us in 2007. She previously worked for Computer Futures as a consultant in London and demonstrates an excellent understanding of the business.

Alcinda dos Santos Fortes - Senior Legal Advisor for Benelux and France

I’ve been with Legal for over five years. I help the Business navigate its way through the jungle of French or Belgium compliance issues. Soon I'll be exploring another new region: Brazil.

Alcinda joined SThree in 2005 and is a valued and highly respected member of the Benelux / France Team.

Katy Simpson - Legal Advisor for UK / Americas Team

Katy is a perfect example of career progression and reward at Group Legal. She joined us in 2007. A diligent and conscientious member of the team, her first role was in Legal as a Legal PA / Department Office Manager. A promotion to Legal Advisor for the UK / Americas Team followed in January 2011. Katy is now studying law in the evenings and recently completed her Graduate Diploma in Law. Next up is a Legal Practice Course to qualify as a Solicitor. Katy is a valuable and fun member of our team and embodies the energy and rapport values of SThree!
