Introduction

I studied Marketing and Communication in Wiesbaden at the IMK. During my time there I gained valuable practical experience in sales and marketing. A career in sales was the clear path for me. However, I wasn’t properly aware of Headhunting and how it fitted with my skills.

When I first began looking into recruitment, I was approached by a competitor of SThree’s about a Trainee Program. After researching the industry online though, it was the SThree concept that interested me the most. Being an entrepreneur in an existing business and taking ownership of your career was exactly what I wanted.

My role

I started my career here straight from University. This is my first role in a global company. I think my first steps have been very good. I was made to feel extremely welcome and was quickly put onto the phones to gain experience.

Building structure and the SThree values into my day-to-day work has helped me become successful at what I do. I work in a very niche market; being so specialised means I consult my clients on a daily basis, offering them a complete service. Cultivating these relationships is a key driver in the business. I think it’s the most interesting part as well – simply because every person is different and anything can happen.

After one year here, I was promoted. This gave me the chance to join our first European expansion in ten years by heading to Switzerland. It’s a real opportunity to fast-track my career. I’m going to make the most of it. The next aim is to become a Manager!

Training

I’ve been through all the standard SThree training and induction sessions. They’ve given me a great foundation on which to build my career. But it’s not just the formal training that’s helped my development. In fact, what’s been most beneficial has been the daily time my manager takes out to explain my job to me.

I expected high levels of training when I joined SThree and I certainly haven’t been disappointed. At a lot of companies, I’m told they train you up when you’re a new starter – and then that’s it. It’s not like that here. The training is adapted to fit the stage of your career you’re at. It means I’m constantly going to be learning and picking up new skills. That can only be good for my career.

Working at SThree

Working for Sthree is result orientated. It’s hard work. You need to show dedication every day because it’s like running your own business. Luckily my colleagues and the management recognise this and have created a fantastic environment to work in.

An example of this is how we all celebrate success together. Of course it’s competitive but we know we’re all on the same team. Since I’ve worked here I’ve had some amazing nights out and enjoyed some lavish Lunch Clubs. The Christmas Ball to finish the year was definitely a highlight! Events like this really bond the team together and I now have quite a few colleagues I would call friends.

If you want to work for SThree you need to have a hunger to succeed in recruitment. You have to want to take your career in your own hands. Support from the company is guaranteed, so whether you become successful or not is down to you.
