I graduated from Dublin City University with an honours degree in Business Studies and HR. Degree finished, I began working in the HR Department of a small cleaning contracting company in Dublin.
A lot of my role was about recruiting new staff. It was my favourite part of the job. However, at the time, I didn’t actually know much about the recruitment industry. It was when I decided to look for a new opportunity online that I came across Computer Futures.
I remember my first day like it was yesterday! All the new starters were excited to get going. We were warned that the first few weeks can be tough – and they were!
After a slower start than I’d expected, I decided I needed a solid strategy in place if I wanted to see results. Just simple things like sticking resolutely to a day plan. Or spending two hours on the phone. Or reaching all my KPI’s.
I made my first two deals within two weeks. A month later, I clinched another. Today, I’m still seeing the results from my strategy! I was even lucky enough to attend my first Lunch Club in September. It was so much fun. I was also voted MVP by my colleagues. It was only my third month at the company so it was a huge boost to my confidence.
It took me five months to get a good grasp of this job. In fact, I’m still learning every day. The training and support from my team and my managers has been – and still is – second to none.
My first three days of training were definitely the most memorable. We went down to the London office. It was great to share experiences, stories and ups-and-downs. I took a lot of advice on board. By the time my formal training was finished, I was far more confident in my ability to succeed at this job.
Energy, Rapport, Respect and Reward. These four values really do represent the culture here. It’s an energetic environment. And there’s never a dull moment!
Every morning I come in and everyone is so motivated to have a good day. It’s an inspiring culture to be part of. What’s great is: everyone wants everyone else to do well. We’re a team. Of course it gets competitive sometimes – but in a positive way.
At the Dublin office we work hard. But we play harder. I’ve had so many fun nights out over the past few months. These have ranged from bowling with the Directors (and winning, I should add) to dining in plush restaurants for Lunch Club.
I’ve always believed it’s important to enjoy, and be good at, what you do. I think I’ve found that with my new career at Computer Futures. It’s a great feeling. In my opinion, the key ingredients for success here are hard work, determination and lots of energy. It’s really that simple. Apply these to your business at SThree and the sky is the limit as to where your career can go.
